The Melchior System

We hope you find the following of interest - we certainly did.

Right - I`m ready to go for it.  You may think I`m mad but I`ll be happy if this £900 makes a profit of any kind.` He was the doubter among us and that was 7th January 2002, when the real betting started. That first bet of £900 produced just £500 profit on the first betting day, £100 on the second and more on the third and fourth. That original £900, over two years later, stands at £60,000 - and that is THE MELCHIOR SYSTEM.

When was the Melchior System devised?  What is now known as The Melchior System came into being, or at least the seeds were sown, in mid 2001 during a chance meeting between three men, three men who found that they had something in common - the desire to produce a simple betting method that would enable them (and the average betting man) to beat the bookie on a regular basis. Their initial meeting was followed by several other discussions, culminating in a final `decision time` get-together during the Xmas break in 2001. That `ready to go` signal was given and away they went - the rest is history.  

Who devised it? The `three wise men` involved were a chartered accountant, a retired financier and a racing journalist. They were armed with huge amounts of racing history, years of results, analyses of these results by racecourse, prize-money, going, time of year and just about every other factor you could consider.

What was their purpose? Their idea was to produce a system, the users of which, initially themselves, would not have to study form but would simply follow an uncomplicated set of rules to make their bets. It was essential that the bets would be win only, starting price bets, which could be placed on the morning of racing, with no waiting for prices. In addition, it would not be a system that backed favourites and, as it has transpired, a favourite is backed in only around one in thirty bets.

What would be the basis of the system?  The Melchior System would not rely upon `information` or `form` but would be built upon mathematical probability based upon actual events. Common sense and caution would also play their part. The system is not considered suitable for the betting man who prefers to back outsiders - it is for the more intelligent betting man who understands that bookmakers reap vast profits from the punter aiming to make a fortune. 

So much for theory - what actually happened when the system was put into operation? Our trio decided that they would stake £900 on each bet, not because that was a small sum but because they had seen just how the system worked. The first betting day was 7th January 2002 and that days bet returned £1,400 - a profit of £500. The next bet returned just £1,000 - not very exciting but still a profit. By the end of January the profit had crawled its way to £1,575, frankly, a poor month, but as you may recall, there was not much racing in January 2002.  Certainly, it was the worst month for profits recorded by the system.

What then? Well Next I will show you the cumulative quarterly profits produced by the system. We wish to stress that these figures are produced using the same £900 bet each time. Obviously, profits could be improved considerably if stakes were gradually increased. Equally, you may not wish to stake £900 per bet and, if this is the case, you simply adjust to what might be your own choice of stake.
